Few series have had as many epic battles as the Lord of theRings. From Minas Tirith to Helms Deep, and from The Black Gate to the Mines of Moria, there have been swords slashed, spears stabbed and shields smashed. Andnow Pandemic has given us the chance to re-create these revered battles in Lordof the Rings: Conquest. In Conquest, the player will participate in the most famous battles of the seriesand then some, as either the good or the evil. But has it re-created the extravagant conflicts well?

Another year, another WWE game. With every passing year there is hope
that THIS time we will get a wrestling game that truly defines the art
of big, sweaty men in pants, pretending to fight. With their biggest
rivals TNA releasing a game earlier this year, the pressure may be
starting to mount on WWE and THQ to produce top quality wrestling games
one again.

The Mortal Kombat series is easily linkable to Sonic the Hedgehog. Both were huge hits and massive fan favourite’s back in the early nineties, but no games since then (with the possible exception here and there) have been able to capture the magic of those original experiences. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has once again been built up as the saving grace of the MK series. With a smaller, more concise roster of MK fighters, Ed Boon and his Midway team are looking once again, to revive this age old franchise.
Have they accomplished this fairly daunting feat? Hit the jump for to find out. |

As a first-person Parkour game, Mirror's Edge has some significant obstacles in it's path to greatness. However, several times throughout the course of the game, these obstacles make an unfortunate transformation into obstructions. As the protagonist, Faith, you will run, jump, hurdle, slide, punch (and fall) your way through ten chapters of a story written by Rhianna Pratchett, the daughter of Terry Pratchett. After the story mode is completed, the player can par-take in speed runs and upload their best times onto the Xbox LIVE to compete with others.

For those that pre-ordered the long-awaited Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts at certain retailers, this week, if you were lucky, saw a RARE treat. See what I did, there? While team at Rare Studios in Twycross have been slaving away at the re-invention of the Banjo series for close to 4 years now, another company, 4J Studios has been prepping what is likely to garner most of the excitement surrounding the franchise this Holiday: the Xbox LIVE Arcade remake of the original Banjo-Kazooie, released on Nintendo 64 in 1998..
In fact, it did garner most of the excitement, which is probably why Microsoft and Rare chose to give the Arcade title away for free to those that secured their copies of the new, vehicle-building hotness. An amazing bit of marketing there, if I say so myself. But after 10 years since the original's release, how has it held up? Is the Banjo-Kazooie of old still relevent and more importantly, fun, today? Yes it is.

Everybody has a favourite superhero, regardless of how many, or little, comics they have read, movies they have seen or games they have played, there is always one that you just really love. Mine has always been Spider-Man. The thought of a man with all the abilities of a super-spider? Who wouldn't want that? Which is why I was nearheart broken when I played Spider-Man 3 and discovered that maybe Spider-Man was not as great as I had once thought. I decided to give Friend or Foe a miss, for hopefully apparent reasons, and was genuinely excited about Web of Shadows (all the while doing my best to ignore Treyarch's involvement.) A game in which you can flit between the 'good' Red and Blue Spidey and the 'evil' symbiote dark one instantly was exciting enough but with those choices also came the much-used morality system.
