I, for one, was completely unsure of how EA Montreal would or could possibly follow up on Tyson and Elliot's homoerotic, terrorist-killing adventure with the forthcoming sequel. How it actually plays out, well, we'll find out next week. But as for the title's name? If an anonymous source's information is correct, that bit of source code found on the game's website that read "Army of Two: TFD" was the abbreviated title for Army of Two: The 40th Day. According to the source, The 40th Day is indeed the subtitle of the sequel, and it will be taking the war duo and the setting to an all new location: Shanghai, and will feature more "moral decisions." Ugh. A deeper weapon customization system than was in the original game, numerous endings (no doubt based off the moral choices) and even AI followers will be present, and for fans of the title's limited multiplayer component, have fun knowing that EA are once again outsourcing that portion of the game to another studio. The source dishing out the supposed info the game indicates that new "Beast lighting and Fracture" is in place for the tech-obsessed gamers out there, as well as an improved networking system along with new environmental interaction/destruction and AI scripts for your companion. Similar to Gears of War 2, a 'meat shield' element will come in the form of civilians that can be offered up as your own bullet vests. Outside of the initial intro/tutorial level, it's reported that the game's first handful of missions consist of a military invasion in which the duo have to escape a crumbling building, a zoo, and a hospital. None of this has been confirmed, but it's all quite detailed to just be made up, don't you think? Regardless, all shall become clear next Thursday. [Update]: Ready for a shocking surprise? The above info is legit. Apparently. Sources have confirmed that the sequel's leaked info, and title, are all as indicated. Now all that remains is for the media details to spill on Thursday. |
