According to Eurogamer, ActivisionBlizzard and its front man, Bobby "I love money" Kotick will not only be shipping out Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits, Metallica and new IP DJ Hero this year, but they have plans for at least 4 more iterations of the franchise by the end of 2009. Not surprising, since some of this was admitted to be happening already, but it's quite a shock to see what's in fact on tap. Apparently in addition to the band-compatible track re-release in June, ActiBlizz will push out Hard Rock Van Halen in August, a proper Guitar Hero 5 in September (which likely won't be the final name, since Guitar Hero IV eventually became World Tour), Band Hero in November (redundant?) and a new Guitar Hero iteration for the Nintendo DS. I would assume the latter might just be the new version of the portable music game that will work with the Nintendo DSi - which lacks the GBA slot and therefor killed support for ActiBlizz's current Guitar Hero: On Tour and upcoming Modern Hits peripheral. It's noted that Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5 are allegedly separate, but could possibly be connected (one would hope so), however no specifics were provided either way. Keep on milking that franchise, guys. Something (or 5) has to compete with that monster Beatles game. |
