Marvel vs. Capcom 2 coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade has been one of the worst kept secrets of the new year, and it's finally been officially acknowledged. Capcom announced the current-gen arcade port of the classic fighting game at their Captivate09 event in Monte Carlo today and frankly, it's about damn time.

Slated to hit XBLA (and PSN as well) sometime this Summer, the HD port will run you what is slowly becoming the new standard price for anything remotely better than a WiiWare title: 1,200 Microsoft Points. The XBLA port is based off of the Dreamcast version of MvC2, and will feature online Ranked and Player multiplayer modes, all 56 playable characters unlocked form the get-go, as well as new "optional advanced visual filter," since this is not receiving an "HD Remix" makeover.

A demo for the game will be going up this Thursday, April 30th, but only on the PlayStation Network. Time to be jealous, 360-only gamers. But only for a while. You can't have demos of Arcade games until the actual product is available, too.
