Much to our chagrin, BioShock 2 has multiplayer. Thankfully, though, developer 2K Marin have already confirmed that co-op is nowhere to be found in our second trip to Rapture. But multiplayer being shoehorned into a sequel isn't always a needed feature, especially when it's a franchise that relies so heavily on story and immersion - both of whcih require a developer's full attention. Usually corners have to be cut, unless multiplayer is farmed out to a third-party. But (hopefully) not in Bioshock 2's case, as 2K have tried to alleviate our fears.
"We did not make the decision lightly. ... We recognise that people might be cynical about a multiplayer mode ... A lot of us are big single player fans also so in no way does it compromise the single-player experience.”
Phew. Thank god. Feel better? That Little Sister-guarding survival mode* won't detract from your adventure as a Big Daddy.
*Pure speculation, of course. |
