How we love Valve Software. Really, can they do no wrong? Apparently not, as things just keep getting better for their releases. Hopping on Kotaku's podcast to talk about all things 2008 and Left 4 Dead, Chet Faliszek, the game's dialogue writer divulged some interesting tidbits of info on the future of our favorite zombie-slaying multiplayer title. According to Faliszek, Valve will announce the first downloadable content for Left 4 Dead soon-ish (as usual, it has been delayed into early 2009, as opposed to its original pre-Holiday announcement) and it's planned to be released "shortly." "The holidays aren't actually so much delaying it as the press guys ...We'll have an announcement shortly, I don't know exactly when." For the record, this should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that has played the 5-hour campaign, and seeign as how Valve confirmed that DLC would be along in the months following release. What's on tap for this anticipated release? New scenarios, of course, as well as Versus multiplayer support on the "Dead Air" and "Death Toll" campaign maps - something that fans have been wanting for a while. Faliszek says that at Valve "what we want to do is just deliver more content you can play at this point." Oh, and possibly the best news of all regarding this content? Unlike Valve's past efforts, Left 4 Dead will see its DLC hit both the PC and the 360..."at the same time." Joy to the world! PC users can also look forward to the release of the game's SDK in thenear future, which will allow for mods and the usual PC shenanigans. Awesome! The big question is, though: "Will it be free?" For PC users...most likely. That's how Valve rolls. On 360? Not so much. |
