Ubisoft announced today that in their 2009/2010 fiscal year (beginning this April and stretching through March 2010), they will release seven new titles in already-established franchises and series, as well as four licensed offerings and three new "brands." Among the sequels to be shipped? A new Ghost Recon (which was just rumored not that long ago), Assassin's Creed 2 (how curious), Splinter Cell: Conviction (which is still 360-only), Anno and a follow up to the Wii's launch title, Red Steel - this time using Nintendo's new "Wii MotionPlus" technology. Licensed titles on the way include a game-counterpart to James Cameron's 3D flick Avatar, a new TMNT and more. Only one of the new brands was detailed, which happens to be I Am Alive - rumored yesterday to be out before the end of this March. Oops. H.A.W.X. is in their somewhere. President of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, said: "2009-10 looks very promising and our teams are working flat-out to provide gamers with the best the industry has to offer. Our line-up comprises several potential blockbusters with the launch of seven franchises, including Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon, as well as four license-based games including James Cameron's Avatar, three new brands and a further-enhanced casual games portfolio. Although we have to be cautious in light of the current economic environment, we expect Ubisoft to once again be one of the most dynamic and profitable publishers in the games industry in 2009." No new Rainbow Six? Beyond Good & Evil 2? Perhaps. We did only get three of the seven "franchises" in that statement. Rest assured...you want anticipated sequels? You'll get them. |
